Head Plate Material Requirements: High strength, rigidity, wear/fatigue resistance. Common options :
1. Carbon Steel (Mainstream Choice)
(1)Q235B/S355JR: Cost-effective and widely used for low-to-medium load machines. Requires heat treatment (quenching and tempering) to enhance strength.
(2)45# Steel: After tempering, hardness reaches HRC 25-35, offering balanced performance at moderate cost.
2. Alloy Structural Steel (High-Performance Machines)
42CrMo/40Cr: Quenched and tempered for tensile strength exceeding 1000MPa, with excellent fatigue and impact resistance. Ideal for large-tonnage machines (e.g., 2000T+).
3. Cast Iron (Special Applications)
HT250/HT300: Good damping and vibration absorption, but lower tensile strength. Often used in small or older machines.
Ductile Iron (QT500-7): Strength close to steel, suitable as a carbon steel alternative.
4. Special Treatments
Surface Hardening/Nitriding: Increases wear resistance (e.g., hardness ≥HRC 50) for guide rail contact surfaces.
Stress Relief: Large head plates require vibration aging or annealing to prevent post-machining deformation.
