DIN1.2714 Tool Steel for Hot Forging Die or Plastic Mould
Ningshing Special-Steel have over 20 years for supplying high quality tool steel DIN 1.2714. We supply Die blocks as the extra Forging Reduction & Upsetting with Double tempered to achieve the better Ultrasonic quality.
DIN 1.2714 Tool Steel is highly recommendable for Close Die Forgings due to its characteristics of high wear-resistance, extra toughness , high hardness which is achieved with Cr-Ni-Mo-V high graded alloys.
The equivalent grade DB6 / L6 / SKT4 normally used as a pre hardened condition. The standard hardness is 360 to 430 BHN. DIN 1.2714 is the upgraded version of DIN 2713 for better performance of dies.

Characteristics
1. A kind of Nickel-Chrome-Molybdenum-Vanadium steel for hardening in the stream of air or in oil with high hardenability.
2. With high hardness after hardening, good resistance to the tempering, good toughness and good firmness during the heat.
3. It resists quick temperature changes and also thermal fatigue.
4. The steel is well-workable during the heat and well-workable in the soft-annealed state.
Application
DIN 1.2714 is used for making Dies for Drop Forging Hammers & Mechanical Presses, Die Molds, Shoe Blocks, Die Holder, Cassettes, Piston Rods, Cranks, Boaster, Shearing Blades, Tools, plastic molds, Shafts Etc. Quenching + Tempering condition is suitable for the application as forging dies, slides, punch heads, extruding stamps press tools, hot shear knives, extrusion press tools, die holders, support tools, tool holders, pressure plates.
Heat Treatment
Annealing
650 to 700°C
Slow controlled cooling in furnace at a rate of 10 to 20°C/hr (50 to 68°F/hr) down to approx. 600°C, (1112°F) further cooling in air.
Hardness after annealing: max. 248 HB.
Stress relieving
Approx. 650°C
Slow cooling in furnace; intended to relieve stresses set up by extensive machining, or in complex shapes. After through heating, hold in neutral atmosphere for 1 - 2 hours.
Tempering
Slow heating to tempering temperature im- mediately after hardening / time in furnace 1 hour for each 20 mm of workpiece thickness but at least 2 hours / cooling in air. It is recommended to temper at least twice.
A third tempering cycle for the purpose of stress relieving may be advantageous.
