DIN 1.2201 Cold Work Tool Steel is a High-carbon, high-chromium steel. It has good hardening capacity and grinding resistance. It is used for cold-work tools, which means that they may actually heat up during work, but should process only the ambient temperature materials. It can not operate in aggressive, corrosive environments

Heat Treatment
Annealing
820 to 860 °C
In furnace until 600 °C is reached, speed 10°C/h. Then Apply air cooling. max. 255 HB


Stress relief
600 to 700 °C
In furnace until 500 °C is reached, then apply air cooling.

Quenching
960 to 1000 °C
15 to 30 minutes keeping curing temperature
quenching in water
Hardness: Min.60 HRC

Tempering
150 to 550 °C
cooling in air
